That is the shortest honest sentence about me. The longer one follows below.
My name is Maya Studer and I run Kamera Martin as a sole proprietorship in Lucerne. Photography is my work, and alongside it I work as a visual artist, which shows in the jobs: I rarely look for the perfect picture and usually for the right one.
Working solo has a practical advantage. You write to me, you speak with me, and on the day the same person turns up with the camera. Nothing agreed gets lost on the way, and there is no second hand in the editing.
What interests me in a job is the moment somebody stops posing for the camera. At a wedding that is often just after the ceremony, in a portrait after about ten minutes, with a product never, which is why that work is about light and edges instead.
I edit with restraint. Colours stay as they were at the location, skin stays skin. If a picture needs a filter to work, I did not take it well enough.
I rarely look for the perfect picture and usually for the right one.
How a job runs
- Enquiry. You write to me with the what, when and where. I come back with an estimate of the work and the price.
- Briefing. We settle the schedule, the locations and the pictures you definitely need. For weddings I go through the whole day with you.
- The shoot. I photograph. You prepare nothing beyond what we agreed.
- Selection. You receive the edited pictures as a download, at full resolution and in a web size.
